Construction to recommence in the City zone

3 January 2025

After a brief break over the holiday period, construction will recommence on the City zone on Monday 6 January 2025.

The City zone starts at the Brighton Road intersection and extends west to Partridge/Gordon streets intersection.

The City zone has been divided into small construction zones to enable a staged approach to the renewal works to ensure the street can operate as normal as possible.

Construction work will be undertaken during the day with some night works between 7pm to 6am.

Footpaths in the City zone

To keep the City zone accessible to pedestrians during construction, we are building the footpaths in sections, in a staged approach:

  • A new concrete kerb will be installed.
  • The base is prepared at night and reinstated by the morning with temporary grass matting to keep the area smooth and safe for pedestrians to walk on.
  • On another evening, the matting is removed, and concrete is poured.
  • The matting is then kept off to cure the concrete in preparation for the installation of Juperana pavers. The footpaths continue to be accessible to pedestrians.
