Fordham Reserve Update - 02 December 2020

2 December 2020

We are delighted to announce that the City of Holdfast Bay is about to embark on stage three (3) of the Sturt Creek Greening Project. The area is known to the Aboriginal (Kaurna) people as Warriparri.

The project focuses on revegetating small pockets of land along the Sturt River in Glenelg North. It will result in a refined corridor of green spaces or ‘stepping stones’ along the river system that will create biodiversity, amenity and wellbeing benefits both for the community and for local flora and fauna.

Beginning in 2019 with planting at the Bob Lewis Reserve (Highland Avenue), the second stage of the Sturt River Greening Project involved community engagement and subsequent planting at the Stewart Avenue Reserve during winter 2020.

Stage three of the Sturt River Greening Project spotlights the regreening opportunity at Fordham Reserve. The public engagement process is commencing in December 2020.

Over the coming months opportunities will exist for the local residents to comment on preferred native plants, placement of greenery, and raise any concerns. Regular updates will be made to the Your Holdfast site and, subject to COVID protocols, an onsite engagement activity is being planned for March 2021.

We look forward to your involvement in this exciting and progressive project.
