Updates on the Draft Temporary Street Traders Policy & Guidelines

24 May 2024

On 22 February 2023, Council sought the community’s feedback on the Draft Temporary Street Traders Policy & Guidelines. The new Policy and Guidelines will replace the existing Mobile Trading Policy and Guidelines and align with recent Local Government Act 1999 changes.

The Draft Policy and Guidelines aim to ensure an appropriate balance is reached between the interests of the Council, local business operators, vending permit holders, and the residents of the City of Holdfast Bay. They also aim to activate public spaces and increase the diversity of food options and commercial opportunities.

We invited stakeholders and the community to view the draft Policy and Guidelines and provide feedback. They could submit their feedback by completing an online survey, by email, by phone, or in writing.

The engagement results identified that we received 70 views to the YourHoldfast project page, four submissions, and one email response.

Following the engagement period, the feedback is reviewed, and the Policy and Guidelines are updated before being presented to the Council for endorsement. We will provide a further update once Council has considered the updated policy and guidelines.

Thank you for your time and interest in providing feedback on the draft Temporary Street Traders Policy and Guidelines. Please remember, if you haven’t already, to follow theproject page for updates.
