Stage 3 & 4 - Major Works Schedule

Stages 3 & 4 of the Glenelg Oval Masterplan will start in September 2023.

The budgets, design work and approvals are in place for the implementation of the Masterplan works, including civil and landscaping works and construction of the new curator facilities and public toilets.

The work, which will start in the north-east corner of the oval in September will continue through the construction stages and be completed by May 2024.

This includes:

  • Rebuilding of the cricket practice pitches to SACA standards (November 2023 completion)
  • Tiered seating on the north-east mound with DDA-compliant (Disability Discrimination Act) access, a viewing area, shelter, playspace and more (November 2023 completion)
  • New public toilets (March 2024 completion)
  • New curator facility (March 2024 completion)
  • Plaza entry to the north-east corner of oval from Rugless Terrace (February 2024 completion)
  • Upgraded Margaret Messenger Reserve with paths, fitness station, BBQ, shelter, seating, upgraded basketball court, mini soccer goals and irrigated turf kick-about space for all to enjoy (December 2023 completion)
  • The school access laneway at Williams Avenue, at the back of Glenelg Oval, will be upgraded with new asphalt paving, swale garden with separated pedestrian and service vehicle access to the oval (January 2024 completion)
