Community engagement results and next steps

29 February 2024

Between November and December 2023, Council sought community sentiment regarding the proposal to extend the existing Glenelg Dry Area to cover the entire length of Jetty Road, Glenelg.

We used a variety of methods to engage including the YourHoldfast project page, Facebook Holdfast News and on-street signage.

What we heard

102 people participated:

  • 86% of the community supported the proposal to extend the dry area
  • 12% of the community did not support the proposal to extend the dry area
  • 2% of the community were unsure or neutral on the proposal to extend the dry area

The report and findings were received by Council on 13 February 2024.

Conclusion and next steps

Council at the meeting held on 13 February 2024 recommended that Administration proceed to make an application to Consumer Business Services (CBS) to extend the existing Glenelg Dry Area to include the entire length of Jetty Road, Glenelg bounded by Augusta Street to High Street, Glenelg.

The feedback provided through the consultation process and as an attachment to Council Report 26/24 will form part of the application to CBS for the Dry Area extension.

We would like to thank the community for their feedback and participation and please follow the project page for ongoing updates.
